Short General History
Great Wall Motors (GWM) was founded in 1984 in Baoding, China, beginning as a commercial truck manufacturer before pivoting to passenger SUVs. The Haval brand, launched in 2013, became China's best-selling SUV brand for multiple consecutive years. GWM acquired GM's Rayong plant in Thailand in 2020, converting it into a production base for GWM's EV and hybrid lineup for ASEAN export. The Haval H6 held the title of Thailand's best-selling SUV for 16 consecutive months. GWM also operates the Tank, Ora, and Wey sub-brands targeting off-road, EV, and premium segments respectively.
