Key Takeaways
Angelo Magtoto posted a personal best lap of 1:40.1 at Batangas Racing Circuit during the Full Throttle Weekend Round 1 Time Battle session.
A cracked front passenger rotor disc, discovered during post-run checks, led to the team's decision to retire before the afternoon session.
Angelo ran the Aura Forged Iconic Series AR-i8 at this event, making Round 1 the wheel's first appearance at BRC.
Safety took priority over seat time, and that decision reflects the kind of discipline that defines serious motorsport programs.

The Morning Session: A New Personal Best
Full Throttle Weekend is one of the Philippines' more competitive time attack series, and Batangas Racing Circuit is not a track that gives away clean laps. At 3.7 kilometers and 14 turns, it puts consistent demands on braking, traction, and line discipline across the full lap.
Angelo ran a 1:40.1 in the morning Time Battle session, a new personal best for him at BRC, just 1.1 seconds off the 1:39 target the team was chasing. That kind of incremental progress is how serious programs develop. It is not always the dramatic breakthrough; sometimes it is a tenth here, a tenth there, adding up across sessions.

Why the Team Retired
After the morning session, Angelo's mechanics found a significant crack on the front passenger brake rotor disc during routine post-run inspection.
No spare rotors were available. The team retired the car.

There is not much more to say about the decision itself, because it was the correct one. A rotor failure under hard braking at BRC carries serious consequences. The fact that it was found in the paddock, not on circuit, is exactly what preventive inspection is designed to achieve.
Angelo put it plainly: "Everything can go perfectly until one small issue ends the day." Missing the afternoon session is frustrating. It is still the right outcome.
About the AR-i8
Round 1 marked the first time the AR-i8 appeared at BRC with Angelo's build, running through the formation lap before the day ended early. There is no track data to report from this round, and we will not pretend otherwise.

What we can say is what the wheel is built to be.
Detail | Specification |
Wheel | Aura Forged Iconic Series AR-i8 |
Material | 6061-T6 Aerospace Aluminium |
Construction | Full forged monoblock |

The AR-i8 is a slim multi-spoke monoblock from the Aura Iconic Series, a range that draws from classic Japanese motorsport spoke geometry and rebuilds it through modern forging and FEA validation. The single-piece construction is optimized to reduce weight while maintaining structural integrity, with custom offset and finish options available across Southeast Asia.

What This Round Tells Us
There are weekends where everything clicks. There are weekends like this one, where the morning goes well, the afternoon does not happen, and the program moves forward regardless.
Angelo has been competing at this level since 2012, across the Circuit Showdown, Sparco Track Attack, Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup, and multiple endurance series. He joined the Aura Forged program because the values aligned: preparation, technical honesty, and no shortcuts. That was evident in how Round 1 ended.

We are following his 2026 season across the Full Throttle Weekend series and other events. The full background on Angelo and his Aura build is here: Welcoming Angelo Magtoto to the Aura Forged Family.
